Why Choose Poly Cutting Edges?

Polyurethane cutting edges combine durability, flexibility, and surface protection, making them an ideal choice over steel or rubber. They deliver longer life, quieter operation, and easy installation while reducing maintenance and downtime.

Key Benefits:

  • Longer Lifespan: Superior abrasion resistance extends cutting edge life.
  • Surface Protection: Elastic buffer prevents damage to the plow and pavement.
  • Vibration Reduction: Absorbs impact for smoother, quieter operation.
  • Easy Installation: Blanks can be drilled to fit any plow.
  • Reversible Use: Flip the blade to use both sides for double the service life.
  • Customizable: Available in any size or color to meet your needs.
  • Cost-Effective: Durable, low-maintenance solution for all plowing applications.

Safe on All Surfaces

Polyurethane cutting edges can be used on virtually any surface, including:

  • Gravel, asphalt, and concrete
  • Manholes, curbs, speed bumps
  • Parking lots with painted lines or patchwork
  • Brick, walkways, and sidewalks

Common Applications

  • Commercial Plowing: Airports, roadways, walkways, and parking lots using trucks and large commercial vehicles.
  • Residential Plowing: Driveways and sidewalks with ATVs, UTVs, tractors, and trucks.

What Is the Installation Process for Polyurethane Snow Plow Cutting Edges?

All of our polyurethane cutting edges are universal and can be installed on any bolt pattern. Follow these steps:

  1. Remove the old cutting edge from the snow plow.
  2. Place the old blade on top of the new blade and trace the hole pattern with a marker. A general guideline is to leave approximately the blade thickness extending below as the cutting edge.
  3. Drill holes in the new polyurethane blade following the traced bolt pattern.
  4. Attach the new blade to the plow, using the old blade as backing support (highly recommended). Large washers can also be used for support.
  5. For extended use, flip the blade 180° when one side wears. The bolt pattern can be re-drilled to lower the wear strip and maximize life.

Why Polyurethane Cutting Edges Outperform Traditional Steel and Rubber

Longer Service Life and Reduced Downtime

Polyurethane cutting edges provide a high-performance, cost-effective alternative to steel or rubber. Their durability translates to fewer replacements, reduced maintenance interruptions, and lower total operating costs.

Surface Protection Without Compromise

Polyurethane edges protect sensitive surfaces like asphalt, concrete, and pavers, preventing gouges, scratches, and damage to sealants or patchwork.

Quieter Operation and Improved Operator Comfort

Vibration-absorbing properties reduce cab chatter and noise, making plowing more comfortable for operators, especially during early morning or overnight work.

Flexible, Resilient, and Shape Retaining

Polyurethane is elastic and memory-retentive, allowing it to flex over rocks, patches, or uneven surfaces without damaging the plow or the surface.

Superior Cleaning With a Squeegee Effect

Polyurethane conforms to the plowing surface for a tight seal and squeegee-like wiping action, improving snow removal efficiency and reducing vibration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Can You Expect Poly Blades to Last?

Lifespan depends on material, usage frequency, surface conditions, and maintenance. Urethane edges typically outlast steel or rubber. Light residential use may last several seasons, while commercial or heavy-duty applications often see optimal performance for 1–3 seasons. Proper installation, flipping reversible blades, and routine inspection further extend service life.

What Should You Consider When Choosing Polyurethane Snow Plow Cutting Edges?

  • Surface Type: Ideal for asphalt, concrete, gravel, and sensitive surfaces to prevent gouging or damage.
  • Plowing Intensity: Thicker or reinforced blades for commercial/heavy use; standard blades for light or residential use.
  • Operator Comfort: Absorbs vibration to reduce cab chatter and noise.
  • Maintenance Cost and Lifespan: Longer service life and fewer replacements reduce total operating costs.
  • Customization: Blade size, thickness, and bolt pattern should match your plow for optimal performance.
  • Environmental Conditions: Resists cracking in cold weather and is compatible with salt or deicing chemicals.
