Urethane Coated Bearings

Urethane Coated Bearings

Polyurethane covered bearings are excellent for industrial use where noise control and wear control are needed. The urethane coating provides an elastic barrier between the bearings OD and the working surface. This allows the urethane bearing to take on the destructive forces that could mar standard metal bearings.

Any size of bearing or cam follower can be coated with urethane. Urethane can be molded directly onto bearings, creating an elastic coating on the OD that absorbs vibrations and prevents wear. Customers can either send in their preferred bearing to be coated or have older urethane bearings stripped and recoated. Uniflex can also source your size of bearing and provide the part complete if needed.

Custom Thicknesses, Colors, and Duros Available

All of our urethane bearings are custom molded to the user’s specifications. We can coat with as little as 1/8” of urethane around the OD to as much as urethane as the customer specifies. Common coating thicknesses are ¼”, 3/8”, ½” and 1”.

Durometers Offered: 40A – 95A and 60-65D

Colors offered: Red, Black, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Green, Grey, and Purple.

Styles of Polyurethane Bearing Coatings

Straight

Flat surface with sharp corners

Chamfered

Edge of coating is chamfered to break sharp corner

Radiused

Edge of coating is radiused to break sharp corner

V-Groove

A v-groove is molded into the urethane coating

Crowned

Urethane coating is crowned with a specified radius (like a caster wheel)

Why Use Urethane?

Unlike steel and other metals, urethane is self-healing and able to resist abrasion, pitting, and scratching. Urethane also provides excellent tensile strength and low compression set for high load and/or high-speed operations. In addition, polyurethane has resistance to most chemicals, solvents, and hydrocarbons. When compared to rubber, it generally cheaper to produce and can have up to 10 times the useful life.

Urethane Covered Bearings

All of our polyurethane coated bearings are supported with engineering, tooling, prototyping, and high volume production services. We have the ability to cast to your specific dimensions and allow trial phases before mass production starts. There is no obligation for high volume orders if you are not satisfied with your prototypes.

What Makes Polyurethane Stand Out?

Polyurethane is:

  • Resilient
  • Durable
  • Cost Effective
  • Abrasion Resistant
  • Impingement Resistant
  • Chemical and Oil resistant
  • Non-absorptive
  • Non-conductive
  • Vibration and Shock Dampening
  • Extremely Versatile
